We currently don't have the capacity to process certain donations, such as jewelry and accessories. We hope to add new product categories in the future, but for now we are focused on clothing. Please reference the list below to see what items we currently don't take:

5-10% of what we receive can't be given to someone else to use. Not too bad but we can do better! We currently don't have the capacity to clean, mend, upcycle, or downcycle items, so help us reduce this amount by not giving us unusable items.

5-10% of donations are essential items like t-shirts (large, loose, simple are best) and sweatpants, which get distributed through the Seattle Public Library.

The rest of the donations end up in the free store to be re-homed. We encourage menders, upcyclers, textile artists, swaps, shelters, non-profits, community orgs, and even resellers to come pick up items from our space. We advise that people do not take more than 30 items at a time to help us maintain our inventory. If you need more items than that, please contact us at sustainablestyleseattle@gmail.com

We've also noticed that people take more items when we aren't staffing the space… This is great because we are preventing more waste and not having to staff the space! No one has abused our store during our pilot phase, and we trust the community will continue to respect the platform and one another.

We know we've had a very deep impact on a few people, and the gift goes way beyond the clothes. Of course we are diverting waste from landfill, but we are also getting clothes to people who need them AND showing people that there are alternatives to capitalism and that we live in a world of abundance.
